Create a customer facing brand for the farm group Cannavia
We were tasked with the full process of naming and building the entire brand from the ground up for a cannabis co-op called Cannavia. The brand aims to bring the highest quality and most innovative cannabis products to the market.
They target California and beyond. People of the highest integrity and optimism, with a passion for quality-grown cannabis and community. And they do so with world-class dedication, unwavering spirit, and unrivaled teamwork.
Our process
We started with the naming process and then moved into logos and packaging.
We used Cannavia as the starting point. Their branding is and imagery is oceanic with influences of ships, harbors and steady eyes on the horizon. We wanted to keep that theme when building their daughter brand.
We soon honed in on the name Ballast. A unique name that inspires trust, steadiness and reliability. We also wanted to play with the idea that multiple farms work together to produce a top-shelf product. We came up with the tagline “All hands on deck” and incorporated it into the logo.

The outcome
Inherited concepts with a unique and bold identity
The final result is a unique and bold brand with a strong concept that remains true to it’s mothership. Cannavia lead the way and Ballast continues the course.
